Welcome to Prairieton UMC!
Since 1838, a community that loves God and loves people has been meeting at the corner of State Road 63 and Kennett Drive in Prairieton, Indiana. In that 187 years, a lot has changed. Buggies have been replaced with SUVs; programmable thermostats have replaced wood stoves and smokers no longer line up outside between services. What remains unchanged though, is our worship of God, our devotion to Jesus, and our love for our little town. We are working hard to become the place people go when they’re celebrating, the people they call when they’re hurting, and the home they return to when they’re worshipping.
As United Methodists, our mission is clear. We are called to “make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” We hope you will join us in this mission.
Each Sunday at 11:00 AM, we come together as a community for fellowship, prayer, music, readings, and a sermon to honor and praise God, our Creator and Father, Jesus, his Son and our Savior, and the Holy Spirit who lives within us. Through this time of worship, we are taught, empowered, and sent out into our community to share wisdom, kindness, and faith.
In addition to worship services, we offer a weekly Bible study with Rev. Mark Zerkel. The Third Friday group meets once a month for dinner at a local restaurant for fellowship and good food. Kids can make friends at children’s church and we plan community events throughout the year (An Easter Egg Hunt, 4th of July Parade, Family Movie Night, and Trunk or Treat, to name a few.) The sky’s the limit! We need your gifts, talents, and skills as we grow! God brings people He can work through to grow his church. We are looking for encouragers, leaders, administrators, teachers, singers, people who love to work with their hands, and people who love technology. We are looking for artists, and writers, and plumbers. We are looking for carpenters, accountants, designers, and educators. We’re looking for people committed to serving God and serving others.
